The Mariposa Grove at Yosemite is an old growth stand of Giant Sequoias. Very few of these giant trees exist anymore as they require a particular climate. Two other small stands of these trees are in Yosemite but only accessible by foot. This grove is closing in November 2014 and won't reopen until two years later. Major renovation of the trails is planned as well as giving the trees a "rest" from exposure to visitors.

| Hard to believe the enormity of these Giant Sequoias |

| They continue to live despite the damage |
A larger park of the sequoias is just south of Yosemite at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. That will be another trip for us.
