Day 1 - Grayland Beach State Park, WA

We are off! With a relatively short drive today, we are taking our time to make sure all is in order before leaving. This is the first time in a long time we plan to travel for this long.
Our friends teased us about needing a before and after photo to see if we are still smiling, so this is the before photo!
We are listening to the Seattle Seahawks vs. San Diego Chargers game on the radio. I have my Seattle "colors" ready, although the day is a bit warm for a sweatshirt. It is hard to know who to cheer for since I was born in San Diego!

We stopped in Lacey for brunch. While waiting for our food we overheard our waitress talking to a younger waitress about meeting men. Our waitress Melissa says "don't go looking for a good man in a bar, go looking for a man at church". Without even thinking, I said "amen!". She looked over at us and smiled. Not sure the younger waitress believed or appreciated the advise. We chatted further with Melissa and shared some praises together and came away determined to pray for this hard-working mother of two sons, who has to work Sunday mornings, but goes to church Sunday nights.

Shari's in Lacey for brunch

We are trying to figure out this "selfie" thing. So Johnnie takes a picture of Jenny taking a picture of Johnnie taking a picture of .... Hm, there is something we are not getting here. Will one of our young people help us out??

A stop at the Westport Winery right before we get to Grayland Beach. This winery has a really nice garden area with some unique metal sculptures and some good wines too.

Still smiling

Johnnie loves this sculpture but it is a little too big for our den, even if they would sell it

Some more awesome metal sculptures
Arriving at Grayland Beach State Park about 3pm. Is a beautiful campground with trees over the campsites and beautiful dunes along the shore. Full hookups and a nice shower house.

Even our "big rig" camping friends could fit in this spot

For dinner we ate the leftover ribs and salads from the BBQ yesterday. Thanks to all our friends for a great send off.

Thank you Lord for this wonderful chance to travel. I ask your blessing on our travels. Please bless Melissa who is working hard to raise her boys to know you.
