Breaking camp at Klamath, CA and heading to Willits, CA, about a 4 1/2 hr. drive. On the way we are stopping at the two other major Redwood forests.
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park
We love this drive; it is easier than the Jedediah Smith State Park road, and still a very beautiful area. The forest here is not as dense as the previous one, and a little drier climate.

| Lots of trails to hike here |
| Fall colors are starting to show |
| Jenny in front of The Big Tree |
| Lots of elk ignoring the tourists |
| These were beautiful but a bit anticlimactic after the two other forests; not nearly as large, dense of foliage or as wet of a climate. This area has been logged in part before it was purchased by individuals and the land donated to build the state park |
Ah, at last we get to Willits! This is a beautiful little spot to camp and we have time this afternoon to rest, enjoy the wildlife and just be.
