Day 2 - Coastal travel to Cape Lookout State Park, OR

Monday, September 15, 2014 - Day 2

Today we plan several stops along the way before arriving at Cape Lookout. This coastline is totally gorgeous and we want to stop at every beautiful beach along the way!

First stop, Raymond, WA. This little town is pretty sleepy but has some wonderful metal sculptures.

Playing with Black and White - Johnnie lighting his cigarette

Intricate cutwork in her dress

The emotion in this is so real
Even the trees have metal sculpture surrounds
As I was taking these photos a man and young woman came walking along hand-in-hand. The man spoke to me about being on the same journey as Billy Graham. I told him I was a believer and we talked for a few minutes. This man is 70 years old, married a young woman half his age 7 years ago. He has been through several periods of his life where he followed false religions and has finally reached a point he is content in his spirit. Unfortunately he and his wife are very unhappy as they have not been able to make any friends in Raymond. I will keep them in prayer.

Next stop is Long Beach where Johnnie fishes for Halibut each May. This is a fun town that looks like it will be great for a 3 day getaway. Weather is totally fine today, just like summer.

We stop for lunch at a seafood cafe, Castaways. The food is good!

Shall I have fish & chips, or, fish & chips?

I am having pan fried oysters!
And a local beer called Divinity by Fort George Brewery

Full tummies and off to see the Lewis & Clark Historical site. Wait, where did it go? We got all the way to Seaside, OR before we realized it is called the Fort Clatsop Historical Monument and we missed it. Oh well, next time! At least in Seaside we were able to see the statue of Lewis & Clark and the camp where they stayed for a few months before moving to the Fort.

On to the Tillamook Cheese Factory before reaching Cape Lookout State Park.

Yummy!

Thank you Lord for another beautiful day! Prayers for the couple I met and their desire to find a niche where they can make friends and worship.
